North Side Rallies With Series of Endorsements for David Miller

Diverse, broad-based support proving to be a unifying force in the Illinois Comptroller Democratic primary

Chicago (Jan. 13, 2010) - Seventeen north side elected officials have endorsed Representative David Miller for Illinois Comptroller.  As early voting begins, Miller’s campaign is showing steady and growing momentum among Illinois’ top leaders.

“I am honored to have the support of my esteemed colleagues and other leaders across the State,” said Miller.  “It shows that fundamentally, we all share the same goals in making Illinois fiscally sound, in supporting working families and ensuring quality education and health care are accessible for those who need it most.”

To date, Miller has received endorsements from 68 members of the General Assembly, joining a multitude of village, city and county leaders and civic and labor groups.  Among supporters, the need for effective leadership at a crucial time for the state’s fiscal recovery has been frequently cited.

Miller has received numerous awards and broad recognition for his effectiveness as a legislator.  In 2009, Miller was selected by his peers to be a member of the Democratic House Leadership, serving as Assistant Majority Leader.   He currently serves on the  Appropriations-Higher Education (since 2005); Business Occupational Licenses; Elementary & Secondary Education; Health Care Licenses; Mass Transit; and Transportation, Regulation, Roads (Vice-Chairperson) committees. He is also a member of the Joint Committee of Administrative Rules.
