On the Issues

When I first opened my dental practice, I made a choice to locate my office in an underserved area of the state. I firmly believe that all people in Illinois should have access to care, regardless of their income.

Enough is enough. As Comptroller, I will have a zero tolerance policy for companies doing business with the state that break the rules. Any company engaged in pay to play politics will have all state contracts terminated and could be prohibited from seeking to do business with the state in the future.

Like states across the country, Illinois is in the midst of a budget crisis.  But the crisis, preceded by years of budget gimmicks and creative accounting, should have caught no one by surprise.  Now Illinois is faced with catastrophic choices that pit one crucial program against another.  As Comptroller, I will be an ardent watchdog over taxpayer money, stopping any dishonest budget practices dead in their tracks and restoring fiscal discipline.

As an elected official, I understand that the people of Illinois have put their trust in me to govern responsibly, use their money wisely, and focus on the their best interests – not my own. That’s why during my service as a state representative, I supported sweeping ethics reform legislation that changed the way campaigns are funded, eliminating “pay to play” loopholes and paving the way for a better, more honest government.
